88/365: Citadel garden

The weather was beautiful in outside today, nice for an Edmonton October weather anyway. I am still quite pleased *and knocking-on-wood* that there is no permanent snow on the ground. But the weather inside the Citadel was even nicer. Look at how green and beautiful these plants are inside the garden area of the Citadel. What a wonderful location for indoor wedding photography if the weather outside does not cooperate.

Visited the parents and this was a shot of one of the many many flowers in mom’s garden. I chose this shot because I messed up and was able to only get the tips of the petals in focus. But the rest of the image was exhibiting a very soft and silky smooth bokeh to the point that this photo does not look like a digital photo anymore. When I reviewed this photo on my computer, it reminded me of a painting more than a photo.

I typically find flowers boring (perhaps because I don’t know how to shoot them). But this time around, I went for a walk and couldn’t stop capturing shots that had lots of potential. All of these are post-processed, mainly to enhance colors and burn in the shadows.  The result should be a subject that “pops”. Do they?
